Hellhammer were the humble beginnings of Celtic Frost.

Apocalyptic Raids 1990 A.D. Hellhammer - Apocalyptic Raids 1990 A.D. (Noise)

1. The Third of Storms (2:55)
2. Massacra (2:49)
3. Triumph of Death (9:30)
4. Horus/Aggressor (4:27)
5. Revelations of Doom (2:49)
6. Messiah (4:33)

A compilation combining the four-song Apocalyptic Raids EP with two tracks from the incredibly rare Death Metal compilation. The music is loud, noisy, aggressive heavy metal that is horribly recorded. Back in the 80's we often referred to stuff like this as black metal, a label stolen from Venom's album of the same name.

I own this for two reasons: 1. It's now very rare and hard to find. 2. It's part of my Celtic Frost collection. Other than that this CD is not one I spend large amounts of time listening to, though it is an interesting listen into the history of Frost! The cover art is by Martin Ain (bassist).

Sepultura recorded a cover of "Messiah".
