STAR STAR
1. "Fly Boy" (4:13) Star Star are generally held as a glam/hair metal band, but the truth is, they are far too punk to fit this category. Imagine the New York Dolls covering Faster Pussycat songs with a touch of Iggy & the Stooges and T.Rex and you'll get a mental picture of what "The Love Drag Years" sounds like. The band sports a ton of attitude. Unfortunately I think they were a bit too punk for most of the glam rockers, and a bit too glam for the punk rockers, so they sort of painted themselves into a corner. I find the album to be a fun listen. Standout cuts are "Groovy Guru Gangster Girl", "Diggy Dragster", "Fly Boy", the campy "Cowboys In Space" and the smokin' Alice Cooper cover "Nervous". |
