If this album doesn't leave melodic metal fans with their jaws on the floor, they may need to check and make sure they are truly a fan. This is a terrific album. Beautiful, sweeping piano and keyboards, heavy guitar riffs, nice guitar solos, hooky choruses and the vocal talents of Jorn Lande and Russel Allen. While "The Battle" is clearly for those longing for melodic metal, I think fans of progressive metal and even AOR should find something to like here as well. A near perfect recording and mix makes this one of the finest melodic metal albums to come out in '05.
