The name of the game here? Start the song, play as fast as you can, whoever get to the end of the song first wins. No kidding! That is what this music is all about. Dark Endless are what looks to be a one man band that plays some freakin' fast black metal. Unlike the keyboard saturated junk that passes for black metal now, this is more in line with bands like Horde, who know that metal is about guitars and drums, not keyboard melodies. The vocals are high, hollow and almost like a death metal vocalist played at the wrong speed, or perhaps a troll screaming under a bridge. The production has that high end, lousy sound that is often heard in this genre of metal. The snare especially sounds like a tin can being hit at a million miles an hour. However, I think that low budget recording actually is what the band was looking for, as it doesn't sound that different from what I have heard from other black metal acts. I am sure this disc will more than please the hordes of black metal fans, especially those who long for black metal with lyrics that aren't about burning churches and hailing Satan. As a matter of fact, from what I can make out of the lyrics, it sounds as if this band might even be writing uplifting lyrics. What a concept huh? Kudos to the black metal band that isn't afraid to stand up for something different and true. "Dark End Times" was recorded between the years 2000 and 2002, and finally released on CD by Bombworks in 2004.
