This is mostly a
collector's item for KISS fans,
as the music on this disc consists of unfinished works and demo material
that Eric Carr was working on in the late 80's, including some of the
infamous Rockheads tunes. The first song is the most impressive as Eric
wails on lead vocals. Some of the other songs on this disc have Eric mumbling
(scat singing) the melody lines to the songs as the lyrics had either
not been written or were not finished. "Mad Dog" sounds like
it could have been a killer Kiss tune had it been worked out a bit more. It's interesting to note that
Gene Simmons also demoed a song called 'Mad Dog," that was never
used by the band, however the two songs are totally different. Bruce Kulick,
who also wrote some interesting notes in the insert regarding each song,
does most of the guitar playing on this disc.
Another
song by Eric and Bruce was released on the Kiss box set called "Ain't That Peculiar," in which Eric handles
all the vocals and instruments, except for the guitar which was handled
by Bruce Kulick. Eric can also be heard singing lead vocals on the "Smashes,
Trashes, and Hits" version of 'Beth.'
I also own an interview
disc with Eric Carr that came with the book "Black Diamond." |
