Yet another band from the 80's that I somehow missed back then. Shame on me. Heavy Load are classic 1980's heavy metal with a NWOBHM sound. However this band is Swedish. This CD offers great melodies, heavy guitar and solid songs that will ring through your brain for hours after the CD has finished. While I haven't heard the rest of the band's catalog yet, from what I have read and heard from friend, "Stronger than Evil" is one the band's finest hour. I actually discovered this band because of Hammerfall's excellent cover of "Run With the Devil". This is an excellent song and leads way into an album chock full of heavy metal. The band mixes it up quite a bit with some slower songs, some more mid-tempo rockers and the faster numbers and finishes off with what is probably the best song on the CD, the epic "Roar of the North", which is a slow, almost doomy metal number. It's a shame this band didn't get a bit more exposure in the 80's, they certainly deserved it. It should also be noted that Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy) was a guest on this album and played bass on the song 'Free.'
