Being a huge fan of Voivod it was only
a matter of time before I checked out Kosmos. I had read about this band that
featured drums by Voivod's Michel Langevin
(aka Away) and how the album was dedicated to the memory of Voivod guitarist Piggy. However, Kosmos is not Voivod. Rather, what we have here is
atmospheric, cosmic, psychedelia. If Hawkwind and Pink
Floyd were creating music in 2007 with the same attitude towards writing
they had in the 60's, I imagine this is what it might have sounded like. Much
of the music here is instrumental, but vocals are added here and there. "Amerique
Innavouable" features the vocals all sang in French. Overall, Komos are
an interesting listen, but they are deinitely mood music for me.
