I really haven't listened to much death metal over the last few years. Most of the bands that I use to like are either no more or have changed styles. Newer bands seem to either favor the melodic death thing al la In Flames, or the more extreme, almost black metal sound. Sacrificium are straight forward death metal in the tradition of GROMS, old Mortification, Carcass, and Obituary. For the most part this CD is just pack full of mid paced to fast death metal; growling yet understandable vocals, screaming guitars, and pummeling drums. There is the occasional melodic moment like on ""Psalm of An Unborn". However, for the most part, this is just high quality death metal. Lyrically Sacrificium will give their listeners something to think about. They deal with issues from a Christian perspective without coming off as overtly preachy. Very enjoyable to this old metalhead's ears. Now I must stop writing and return to my headbanging...
