Ted Nugent & the Amboy Dukes - Yeeoww! Live at Richards
Recorded live at Richard's Nightclub, Atlanta, GA,
1974
1. "Hibernation" (10:25)
2. "Pony Express" (7:14)
3. "Lady Luck" (8:48)
4. "Papa's Will" (3:58)
5. "Blues Jam" (4:34)
6. "Journey to the Center of Your Mind/Jam" (5:35)
7. "unknown title" (5:43)
Outstanding live recording of Ted Nugent's Amboy Dukes from Atlanta, GA.
This one was recorded on one of the last tours for the Amboy Dukes, before
the name was dropped in favor of just "Ted Nugent". Bassist Rob Grange, who
is on this recording, stayed with Ted for many years. The sound quality is
surprisingly good for a live recording from 1974, although it does sound a
bit compressed. Track 7 is titled "unknown title" but is just a "Survival
of the Fittest" jam that features a bass solo and as well as an outrageous
guitar solo from resident madman, Ted Nugent. Decent packaging as well with
a full color insert and CD. While the cover design isn't great, the inside
cover features the tiger from the "Call of the Wild" album. (Thanks Morgan)
Ted Nugent - You Love Bands When They Play It Hard (This Little Bird/TLB2003)
Recorded live at The Swing Auditorium, May 1976
SIDE ONE
1. "A Jam Thing"
2. "Stormtroopin'"
3. "Great White Buffalo"
4. "Hey Baby"
SIDE TWO
5. "Hibernation" [instrumental]
6. "Motor City Madhouse"
Killer live bootleg. Sound quality is a little shakey, as this seems to be
an audience recording. Track number one was recorded at a different concert
with the Amboy Dukes. According to the liner notes, the song was recorded
at the Woodstock Music Festival. (Thanks a ton Morgan)
Ted Nugent - California Jam 2 (CDR)
Recorded live at Ontario Motor Speedway, Southern California,
March 18, 1978
1. "Cat
Scratch Fever" (4:51)
2. "Just What the Doctor Ordered" (5:04)
3. "Free For All" (5:06)
4. "Snakeskin Cowboy" (4:53)
5. "Yank Me, Crank Me" (5:15)
6. "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang" (6:56)
7. "Stormtroopin'" (10:53)
8. "Motor City Madhouse" (7:31)
9. "Gonzo" (6:27)
The Motor
City Madman live at California Jam 2 in '78. This was a monumental show for
Nugent as this was the last show for longtime vocalist Derek St. Homes. Other
bands were Heart, Frank Marino
& Mahogany Rush, Santana, Foreigner, Rubicon, members of Fleetwood Mac and Aerosmith headlining the festival. A double record set was released in '78 that included
live performances from all the band's. Of the Ted Nugent set, "Free For
All" and "Snakeskin Cowboy" were released on that album. Unfortunately,
this album was never officially released on CD and I sold my original vinyl
version many years ago. Well luckily bootleg copies of the entire show have
been circulating. The sound quality of this bootleg, while a bit raw, is very
good. The 'ol madman sounds great here, ripping up his Fender and whipping the
crowd into a frenzy. As usual, lots of gonzo guitar antics and great jams. I
love Nugent live! The CDR set I have contains six CDs of most of the artists
full sets (except Rubicon) and color printouts of the cover.

15. "Stranglehold" (13:05)
16. "Motor City Madhouse" (8:45)
17. "Free for All" [incomplete] (2:06)
Soundboard release from this Fort Worth, TX concert. Upon receiving
the Archive Alive set, this was the first disc I listened to. I was
anxious to hear one of my personal favorite, "Good Friends and a
Bottle of Wine". This song is rarely played live by Ted, so it was
very cool to hear. "One Woman" is another rarely played Nugent song,
unfortunately it is not played in it's entirety here. "Satisfied"
comes off the "State of Shock" album which had yet to be released
when this concert was performed. The sound quality on here is as to
be expected, bootleg quality. While the sound is suppose to be
soundboard, it's poor, although it is listenable. I've heard far
worse bootlegs.
Volume 32 (Roanoke, VA, 4-1-1979)

14. "Do or Die" (4:44)
15. "Wang Intro" (1:56)
16. "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang" (6:03)
17. "Stranglehold" (15:05)
18. "Motor City Madhouse" [incomplete] (3:04)
Fairly standard show for Sweaty Teddy circa 1979. Some unusual banter coming from the stage as Ted threatens to crush the skull of the next person that throws a firecracker on stage. What an odd tradition that was during the 70's. Smokin' version of "Satisfied" on this one. "Do or Die" is announced as "another new one", but it is a song that never made it's way onto vinyl and is thus a fairly rare track. "One Woman" is unfortunately broken up into two pieces and "Motor City Madhouse" is cut short. The sound is taken directly from the sound board, so there is hardly any crowd noise to be heard. |
Volume 33 (Biloxi, MS, 10-1-1979)
DISC ONE
1. " Intro/Stormtroopin" (4:36)
2. "Just What the Doctor Ordered" (4:35)

4. "Dog Eat Dog" (5:20)
5. "Cat Scratch Fever" (4:40)
6. "Need You Bad" (5:17)
7. "I Got the Feelin'" (4:02)
8. "jam" [instrumental] (3:36)
9. "One Woman" (6:44)
DISC TWO
11. "Satisfied" (6:12)
12. "Wang Intro" (1:40)
13. "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang" (5:47)
14. "Stranglehold" (11:49)
15. "Motor City Madhouse" (8:12)
16. "Gonzo" (4:10)
17. "Great White Buffalo" (5:32)
Volumen 33 in the Archive Alive collection. Not much to add about this show. Similar track listing to many of the other shows in the set, though "Great White Buffalo" and unlike the Birmingham show, "Satisfied" is complete. Ted is his usual, hyper, charismatic self here. Sometimes Ted’s in-between song banter is as amusing as the songs themselves. Ted may be a lot of things, but no one can say he’s not entertaining. Soundboard recording again with little to no crowd noise. Not perfect sound, but not bad for a 1970’s bootleg.
Volume 37 (Birmingham, 1-9-1979)
DISC ONE
1. "Intro" (:47)
2. "Stormtroopin" (3:18)
3. "Just What the Doctor Ordered" (4:55)
4. "Free For All" (6:23)
5. "Dog Eat Dog" (5:06)
6. "Cat Scratch Fever" (4:22)

8. "I Got the Feelin'" (4:15)
10. "One Woman" (3:56)

13. "Wang Intro" (1:36)
14. "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang" (6:09)
15. "Stranglehold" (13:55)
16. "Motor City Madhouse" (7:18)
Soundboard release from this Fort Worth, TX concert. Upon receiving

The night just before Volume 5 (listed above). This would be the
second in the set that I would pop into the CD player and crank. Ted
and crew were in fine form in Oklahoma City in '79. Unfortunately, as
with Volume 5, despite the sound being taken from the soundboard, the
overall recording is a bit muffled. Again, it's not unlistenable, but
this one is for Ted Nugent fanatics such as myself and not for the
casual fan. Similar track listing to the Fort Worth, TX show. "Good
Friends and a Bottle of Wine" is included again, which is a big
highlight for me. Also, "Motor City Madhouse" is left out in favor of"Gonzo". "Stranglehold" includes a short break into "Smokescreen",
something Ted would do for years to come. While this is cool, I would
really love to hear "Smokescreen" in it's entirety.
Ted Nugent - Volume 35 (Kansas City, MI, 1979)
DISC ONE
1. "Stormtroopin" (4:24)
2. "Just What the Doctor Ordered" (5:11)
3. "Dog Eat Dog" (5:33)
4. "Cat Scratch Fever" (5:03)
5. "Need You Bad" (6:14)
6. "Blues Jam" (3:24)
7. "One Woman" (7:04)
8. "I Got the Feelin’" (4:05)
9. "Good Friends and a Bottle of Wine" (4:23)
DISC TWO
10. "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang" (7:59)
11. "Stranglehold/Smokescreen" (13:36)
12. "Motor City Madhouse" (9:55)
13. "Free for All" (5:38)
14. "Outro" (1:29)
Volume 35 features Ted Nugent, live, loud and proud, rocking a stadium crowd in Kansas City. The set list is pretty typical for Ted in ‘79. Track 6 is listed as “Ted Rap”, but is actually a short, untitled, instrumental blues jam that acts as introduction to “One Woman”. “Stranglehold” includes a short medley of “Smokescreen” in the middle of the song. The sound on "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang" is quite flawed. It sounds as if the song was recorded onto a bad tape sounding a bit “wavy”. Otherwise, the sound quality here is decent, sounding like it may be a soundboard recording, with very little audience heard.

Fan-freakin'-tastic!!! I'd been searching for years for some good
quality live material from the "Scream Dream" and "Nugent" tours and this 2-CD
set includes both. Both shows were recorded in Detroit, thus the title of the
CD. I am not sure if "Panic In Detroit" was ever released as a factory pressed
silver CD. My copy is a CDR burned generously by another Nugent maniac. Both
set lists contain songs that are rarely, if ever, performed by Nugent any more.
It's sort of a shame though as these are two of my favorite Nugent albums. Personally
I think "Nugent" is one of Uncle Ted's most underrated platters. Disc one even
contains a rarely heard cover of Chuck Berry's "Oh Carol". The sound quality
here is above average for a bootleg and are almost good enough to be official
releases. A bit of mastering could surely improve the minor flaws in the production.
The only thing that could have made this CD better was a live version of "Terminus
Eldorado." (Thanks David)
Ted Nugent - On Tour With Ted Nugent Gonzo Guitarist (BB 634)
Recorded live in Nashville, TN, 4/20/84
SIDE ONE
1. "Blame It On the Night"
2. "(Where Do You) Draw the Line"
3. "Tied Up In Love"
SIDE TWO
4. Medley:
...Cat Scratch Fever
...Wang Dang Sweet Poontang
...Hibernation
...Wango Tango
...Motor City Madhouse
5. "Dog Eat Dog"
This is a bootleg in the truest form. Everything about it screams "for hardcore fans only", from the cheesy, unmarked, white labels on the LP, to the incorrect track listing on the back cover, to the black and white cover, right down to the radio commercials still on this LP. Yes, you can hear commercials for Budweiser, Jensen audio and even The U.S. Army along with some live, prime, Uncle Teddy. The end of side two even includes the King Buscuit commercials announcing the live, on-the-air, concert. Good thing I am one of those hardcore fans. Recorded live on the King Biscuit Flower hour in Nashville, TN 1984 on the Penetrator tour. The sound quality is good, being that it was recorded directly from the radio. Unfortunately the entire show was not aired.
Ted Nugent – Louisville Kentucky State Fair 1995 (Burn Baby Burn/BBB993)
Live in Louisville, KY, August 26, 1995
1. Journey to the Center of the Mind (4:37)
2. Free For All (5:13)
3. Just What the Doctor Ordered (4:52)
4. Wang Dang Sweet Poontang (5:29)
5. Ted’s Blues (3:15)
6. Live It Up (4:55)
7. Kiss My Ass (3:48)
8. Fred Bear (8:53)
9. Cat Scratch Fever (3:59)
10. Stranglehold (10:05)
11. Great White Buffalo/Spirit of the Wild (15:24) |
Recorded live at the Kentucky State Fair 1995. This is a fantastic recording from Ted Nugent’s "Spirit of the Wild Tour" featuring the one and only Derek St. Holmes on rhythm guitar and vocals. The sound quality here is practically that of an album, being a FM radio broadcast from Westwood One. Nugent and his band of wild cohorts were in top gonzo form here. The performance is fantastic and the crowd is wild. There is just something about an energetic crowd that adds to the energy of a live recording. The song selection is pretty typical of Ted, focusing mostly on his classic 70’s material with a few songs from "Spirit of the Wild" thrown in. The inclusions of "Live It Up" and a heavy version of the 1960's classic "Journey to the Center of the Mind" are real highlights as neither were usual Nugent concert staples at this point in his career. Of course the great songs here are the jams, of which "Stranglehold" and "Great White Buffalo" most certainly are.
I actually had a CDR copy of this show prior to picking up this CD bootleg from Rhino Records in California. It’s a nicely packaged CD with a full color insert and a full color printing directly onto the CD. Unlike my former copy, the track listing is correct and there are no gaps between the songs. This version is cleaned up very nicely and flows as one completely concert.
Ted Nugent - House of Blues, Hollywood, CA 8/8/98 (CDR)
1. "Johnny
B. Goode" (5:10)
2. "Snakeskin Cowboy" (4:15)
3. "Yank Me Crank Me" (7:42)
4. "Kiss My Ass" (4:10)
5. "Free For All/Purple Haze" (8:26)
6. "Dog Eat Dog" (4:26)
7. "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang" (5:22)
8. "Fred Bear" (10:42)
9. "Soul Man" (2:36)
10. "Good Friends and a Bottle of Wine" (5:52)
11. "Cat Scratch Fever" (4:11)
12. "Stranglehold" (8:41)
Yet another
killer live show from 'ol Uncle Teddy. Not like I expected anything less. Ted
has always been an energetic performer and that energy is captured here. A strange
opener in "Johnny B. Goode" but Nug puts his own label on it and just
jams. There is a small portion of what would become "KLSTRPHK" in
the middle of "Johnny B. Goode". Hearing Nugent blow through a portion
of "Purple Haze" was bizzare, but extremely cool! What also cranked
my motor was including "Good Friends and a Bottle of Wine". Now there
is a not often heard classic! Great sound on this one to boot. Sounds as though
it may have been recorded as a radio broadcast.
